I look beyond what is happening to understand what keeps repeating.
As a clinical psychologist, I work to understand present difficulties in the context of personal history, relational patterns, and processes that operate outside conscious awareness.
Psychodrama makes visible through action what can be difficult to reach through words alone. A psychodynamic approach grounded in psychoanalytic theory, together with group dynamics, creates a space where repetition can become recognition—and recognition can open the way to new choices.

Workshop at Hungary’s 17th National Psychodrama Congress
Together with my colleague Vera Szilagyi, I led “Sex—Royal Adventures on the Psychodrama Stage”at the congress titled “I Am King and You Are Queen.”

The workshop explored social expectations, power dynamics, and authenticity in gender roles through psychodrama. Its starting point was J. L. Moreno’s role theory: identity takes shape and changes through our roles and their interactions.
The work drew on Ágnes Háy’s Sex, a series of forty graphic images that reflects on female and male roles in provocative, ironic, and sometimes absurd ways. Participants selected images individually, then used small-group reflection and dramatic scene-building to explore the experiences they evoked.
Movement exercises, group tasks, short scenes, and the possibility of individual protagonist work invited participants to try new role positions, reflect on internal power patterns, and become more aware of their personal relationship to gender roles.
The metaphors of “the crown” and “ruling” provided a symbolic frame throughout: how do we lead our own lives, and to what extent do we shape—or become shaped by— expectations attached to gender roles?
The images were used for reflection with permission from Ágnes Háy and with attribution.
